Management
Lambeth Self Help is a fully mutual housing co-operative managed by a Management Committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Committee members serve as unpaid officers and elect a Chairperson, Deputy Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer at the AGM. If the co-operative requires specific expertise – such as a Treasurer – we may appoint an external, non-member professional, who is then co-opted at a committee meeting.
Committee Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. The meeting location and agenda are sent to Management Committee members with at least seven days’ notice.
The Management Committee may also hold additional meetings when necessary. Extraordinary meetings are convened for urgent matters, in-depth discussions, or dedicated sessions such as away days.
Staff
The day-to-day operations of the Association are managed by a single employee.
The office working hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm.
Management Structure
As a fully mutual housing co-operative Lambeth Self Help operates with the following management structure:
- General Membership: All members collectively make key decisions, such as approving policies and rent changes.
- Management Committee (MC): Elected by the membership, the MC is responsible for the general management of the co-operative and its employees. It is answerable to, and instructed by, General Meetings.
- Subcommittees: The MC may establish subcommittees (e.g. Employment, Complaints, Finance) to focus on specific areas and report back to the MC.
- Staff: Administrative staff carry out the executive and operational work, supporting both the MC and its subcommittees. Staff remain accountable to the MC, which provides oversight and direction.
Funds
Lambeth Self Help is entirely self-funded in its ongoing operations.
Although we received a one-off grant in the past, we do not receive any grants, subsidies, or external funding today. All running costs – including wages, administrative expenses, maintenance, and refurbishment of the properties -are covered by members’ rent.
This income is carefully managed to support day-to-day operations and long-term improvements.
